We are seeking a confident and experienced HLTA to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South East London, supporting pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and complex educational backgrounds. We are seeking a confident and experienced HLTA to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South East London, supporting pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and complex educational backgrounds. The Role:
- Deliver planned lessons and interventions in the absence of the class teacher
- Support teaching and learning across KS2βKS4 (depending on the setting)
- Work with small groups and on a 1:1 basis to re-engage pupils in learning
- Implement and support positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Assist with assessment, progress tracking, and EHCP targets
- Work closely with teachers, behaviour mentors, and pastoral teams
- HLTA status or equivalent experience
- Proven experience working in a PRU, Alternative Provision, or SEMH setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Supportive leadership and experienced PRU team
- Small class sizes and high staff-to-pupil ratios
